  Adobe ColdFusion | Announcements

We have made some tweaks to the ColdFusion blog to improve screen space utilization, new captcha, make search better and cross link other SoMe channels. We will continue to add relevant content around product news and features that can help drive the traffic and make ColdFusion blog a centerpiece of engagement and interaction with our community.

Please let us know your thoughts and feedback on what kind of content should we cover.

It is my experience that the G+ +1 button is not that useful, these only appear on peoples +1 tab on their profile and nearly everyone turns that tab off.

If you want Social Media integration I would recommend that Share options for all Social Media.

    Just an obvservation.

    Hemant,

I would like these to be added\corrected\removed:

    1. Replace the 'Retweet' button with the 'Tweet' button that shows the count of Tweets, just like how FB and G+ show on this page.

    2. Search bar is right up in the Header and also in the right aside. You can remove one, my suggestion is get rid of the one in the right aside.

    3. Again, the above is applicable to Recent Posts - One in the footer and one in the right aside.

    4. Same goes with Facebook like and and Twitter Follow buttons - one in the right aside and one in the footer. BTW, the Follow button in the footer is not completely visible.

    5. Rearrange the right aside, I would like to see the archived posts before seeing all the categories.

    6. All the anchors\links on the page should open in a new window. For example, references to 'ColdFusion 10 admin docs', 'ColdFusion 10 developers Guide' should open in a new window and not in the same window.

    7. For all the Categories show count of posts. This helps if one wants read on a specific topic.

    8. Rename the 'BLOG' link with 'HOME'.

    9. Add pages - About, Contact Us\Ask Us, etc. These links would appear in the header right after Home (BLOG now).

    10. Please add an anchor\link pointing to the forum.

These are only for the design, I have suggestions for the content too. But, I guess this should keep you occupied for some time :)

    -Sagar.

And the FaceBook like doesn't work, it should pop up a window to allow someone to share the content.

    Hi Hemant,

I agree w/ everything Sagar said. Just wanted to add some notes..

I never paid much attention to the search box in the header. Adding the additional links (#9), will help people notice the header more and thus more easily notice the search box up there. Then, I agree, just remove the duplicate search from the right side.

Regarding #3, I'd remove the duplicate Recent Entries from the right side and add a "More in the archives" link below Recent Posts in the footer.

Regarding #10, can both forum links be added in the Resources section?

    - ColdFusion Forums (http://forums.adobe.com/community/coldfusion)
    - ColdFusion Builder Forums (http://forums.adobe.com/community/coldfusion/coldfusionbuilder)

    Thanks!,
    -Aaron

@Andrew, thanks for your feedback. We will consider this in our next round of update.

@Sagar, nice to hear feedback from you. Noted in our list. The updates may happen in stagger phase couple of months later as we are focusing on content. But when we do, these are good inputs.

@Aaron, thanks for your feedback. We should be able to fix some of them soon.

No problem Hermant, I think it is more important to allow people to share rather than like +1, as they really don't deliver traffic back to your site. Facebook like yes, because it allows to like and share, but Google+ +1 is well rather stupid as most people don't see it.

But having said all that, it is great to see so much effort being made here, as much as I have bagged Adobe in the past, you are certainly making some great changes.

Thanks Andrew. These are very good suggestions. I have informed Gaurav who is taking care of some of these changes. We always appreciate your feedback that help us improve.

My chief bugbear with the old set-up was the almost impenetrable CAPTCHA. The new one is much clearer. Good work. Cheers.

Now... about that Win 8 support for CF10... ;-)

Why use a CAPTCHA at all when we've had CFFormprotect for so many years???
